Yahoo has just announced that it will be joining forces with Twitter, the ever popular social media site. Yahoo will also start offering real time Twitter feeds in its regular search results as well. This collaboration is said to begin immediately even though it will take some time to get the two completely linked into each other. Full integration should be complete by later this year.

Almost all experts think that the collaboration between Yahoo and Twitter comprises a direct answer of the Bing and Google collaboration that was declared late last year. Yahoo had already declared a like collaboration with Facebook last year, and the party hopes that these collaborations will serve to improve their standing in the rivalry with the different major search engines.

While the top executives have declined to speak about how much money will change hands in this exchange, executives have been quoted as saying that there will be no monetary exchange with Facebook for at least the next five years, but the agreement with Twitter is yet to be revealed.

Yahoo is well aware of the fact that Google is currently the most popular search engine on the web, and that their recent deal with Microsoft Bing, and the introduction of Buzz, is going to make it even more difficult for Yahoo to steal market share from Google.
